Description:

2012년 가을 발매 예정인 X-COM: UFO Defense의 리메이크. UFO Defense는 북미판 이름이고 Enemy Unknown이라는 이름도 그대로 가져왔다.

 

같은 해에 발매 예정인 XCOM이라는 FPS가 세계관 및 게임 방식 면에서 이전 시리즈와 차이가 너무 심해 올드팬들의 많은 비난을 받았으나, 문명 시리즈의 제작사인 Firaxis에서 1편인 UFO Defense를 리메이크하고 있다는 사실에 순식간에 상황이 반전되었다. 1편을 발매했던 마이크로프로즈사의 창업주인 시드 마이어가 디렉터로 참여하는데다가 Firaxis에는 1편의 사운드나 시스템 제작에 참여한 사람들이 일부 남아 이번 프로젝트에도 참여한다고 하니 정식 시리즈의 자격은 충분하다. 특히 디렉터인 제이크 솔로몬은 엑스컴 시리즈의 광팬을 자처하고 있기도 하며 제작진들에게 1편을 다 플레이하게 해봤다고 자랑하기도 했다.
